Number 4 Make a Resist Piece of Art?

Oil pastels and drawing inks can be used together to create a resist piece of art. Have a go!
Step 01
Firstly, gather all the materials you're going to use: bottles of Indian ink (or drawing ink) in various colours; oil pastels; soft brushes; and good quality paper.
Step 02
Step 02
Create a design or drawing on the paper using the oil pastels. Go over this again to make sure that the lines are strongly drawn.
Step 03
Step 03
When you are happy with your drawing, wash diluted inks over it and watch what happens.
Step 04
Step 04
Well done! You've just created a resist piece of art. You can see that the diluted inks only soaked into the paper around the pastel lines. That's why it's called 'resist' art because the oil pastels resist the ink wash!
