Number 3 Finish a Face?
Using coloured pencils or chalk pastels, try drawing part of a person's face in detail.
Step 01
Gather the items you will need.
Click on the toolbox above to see a list of tools & materials you will need.
Step 02
Step 02
Cut a coloured picture of a head from a magazine.
Step 03
Step 03
Fold it in half lengthways and stick it onto the middle of a sheet of drawing paper. Look closely at the features -- the shape of the face, eye, eyebrow, nose and mouth. Look at the skin tones and the colour and detail of the eye.
Step 04
Step 04
Draw the other half of the face making it as close as possible to the picture. Rub and smudge the colours gently to blend them. Are there laughter lines? Freckles? What colour are the lips?
Step 05
Step 05
Extend the hair and neck also.
Step 06
Step 06
Mount the finished work onto a larger sheet of sugar paper. Well done!
Step 07
Step 07
Here's another example of a "Finish the face" drawing. Does he look familiar?
Now that you have tried a face in colour why not use a black and white picture in the same way. Use pencils or chalk and charcoal to create the necessary tones.
