| Cut a coloured picture of a head
from a magazine. |
| Fold it in half lengthways and
stick it onto the middle of a sheet of drawing paper.
Look closely at the features -- the shape of the
face, eye, eyebrow, nose and mouth. Look at the
skin tones and the colour and detail of the eye.

| Draw the other half of the face
making it as close as possible to the picture. Rub
and smudge the colours gently to blend them. Are
there laughter lines? Freckles? What colour are
the lips? |

| Extend the hair and neck also. |

| Mount the finished work onto a
larger sheet of sugar paper. Well done! |

| Here's another example of a "Finish
the face" drawing. Does he look familiar? |
| Now that you have tried a face
in colour why not use a black and white picture
in the same way. Use pencils or chalk and charcoal
to create the necessary tones. |
