Make Clay Printing
Blocks |
Get rolling with your clay
and then do some printing! |
Firstly, collect all the materials
and tools you're going to need.
These are: clay and clay tools, water-based printing
inks, newsprint paper, printing rollers, rolling
surface (eg, acetate), old saucer or plate, and
pencils. |
| Make some blocks with your clay.
Use a pencil or other tool to impress patterns,
designs or drawings into a flat part of the clay.
Roll out your printing ink on a flat surface and
then roll ink from the roller over the clay block.
Press your blocks on to newsprint paper to create
a pattern. Maybe you could create a wrapping paper
design? |
| Now, take some more clay and press
it into an old saucer. Flatten out the surface of
the clay as much as possible. |
| Draw a design, pattern or picture
into the flat clay surface. |
| Roll printing ink on to this. Press
a piece of newsprint onto the surface and rub it
lightly. |
| Peel away the paper from the clay
surface and look at it. Hey presto! You've made
a clay block print! |
